Camp Amazon season

The first week of January, I had the honor to serve alongside Camp Amazon ministries with TBarM. This ministry is based in Iquitos, the capital of Loreto, Peru. Trent and Shawn Rolfzen, missionaries and pastors at the Abundant Life ministries have been doing an outstanding job in discipling the youth and young adults of this area. The amazing heart they have for the next generation of the Amazon is quite contagious. I have greatly rejoiced at seeing the fruits of their labor: transformed lives by the power of God! This is just the beginning! Thank you Jesus!!! So thankful to God for Trent & Shawn and their six children. Keep praying for God to keep using them to reach and lift new leaders in this part of Peru!

TBarM ministries, an International Camps Organization has been greatly used by God to pioneer Camp Amazon with Abundant Life' s ministries. God faithfully provided through the amazing TBarM staff the tools and training that was necessary for this project. I have seen God working as both ministries have served in unity to fulfill His purposes. God bless TBarM and all the families that are part of these great efforts that bring glory to God as we expand His kingdom on earth. So far hundreds of children and youth have been touched by God's love and the hope of a new life in Christ! By loving the unlovable, His light shines before people!

This time a wonderful US team of leaders and coaches came to support the training week for the Camp Amazon staff. Lots of fun and learning!

Always amazed to see how God does His wonderful works in His perfect timing. The new leadership that God is raising through the Camps ministry and the Revolution team is an answer to prayers for these lasts three years. Below some guides and leaders share their experiences and challenges for this 2011.

These are some of the young people that have been there from the beginning and it is a joy to see Christ's character formed in their lives! Keep seeking for His presence!

Having fun is part of a Christian's life. Always something to learn with this amazing Amazon generation: new preachers, teachers and singers =)

Now they are in another season of their lives and it is a joy to see them growing!

Sharing some cold drinks with them is part of the day camp since it can get really hot in this area.

Then off to Libertad, a village around the Nanay river. The Camp Amazon team ate the delicious Juanes, the typical Amazon meal. I still need to get back to eat some Juanes =)

After getting off the first boat we got on a second boat and then a short hike to get to see the precious people in Libertad.

We had a wonderful time with the children and villagers. The children enjoyed the games and playing in the mud after a long rain! It was quite a trip!

Then back to Iquitos. January 10, 2011 was the first day of the Camp Amazon season! The theme for this season is "More than conquerors in Christ". Over 90 children registered for the first week of camp. They did enjoy four days of Christ-centered adventure!

The guides and leaders welcomed the children and showed them the campground which would be their home for the week. This campground is one of my favorite places in the world!

The cabins are quite comfortable. Three meals are provided everyday for each camper besides the access to the soccer/volleyball fields, and other areas for games.

After a few last encouraging conversations with the fabulous team of guides/coaches/leaders, it was time to say bye to the campers, Camp Amazon staff and TBarM team. Sad day! Though quite encouraged to have seen the Camp Amazon ministry growing and reaching new dimensions in Christ! The power of prayers and God's faithfulness to His promises remains forever! The best is yet to come!

‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house ... and in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the LORD Almighty.” Haggai 2:9

Entrepeneurship seminar in Lima

Last Saturday, the Emprende team once again joined efforts to give a seminar in Lima. This time it took place at Piedra Viva Community. We had a great time teaching and interacting with people who want to start micro businesses. Every speaker did a great job teaching on their area of expertise and communicating their marketplace experience. Edinson Rodriguez, a civil engineer and business manager in the construction field talked about business planning and ideas for business.

Liset Maldonado, an imports junior executive at Balu Corporation shared about business logistics.

Javier Rodriguez, an expert in Marketing talked about marketing and sales: selling your products or services. Mercedes Montalvo is one of the lawyers from our team. She talked about how to register your company and start legal documents for your business.

Later Erick Soria, a business consultant, talked about financial evaluation: how to start investing in your company, cash flow and reports.

Finally Michael Ramos, the Emprende team operations director, finished the entrepeneurship seminar with some key applications based on christian principles. Everyone did wonderfully. Thank you very much for all the hard work to make this seminar a reality and for helping bring new ideas and business opportunities for people. Keep lifting leaders in Peru to change our nation!
